THE WORDS

this is truer

than the last time:

I see now how

   the words

cut into the page

& it takes me back

to the endless

nights

of my darkest

youth.

no fear

no judgment

no worry

no explanation

only the word

and the page

and that one-eyed

pirate called

risk.
